Becca Gatrell Psychotherapy
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist working with individuals, couples and families in Cornwall.
About me and my work
I am a fully qualified psychoanalytic psychotherapist registered with the UKCP. I work from a tranquil room in my garden with individuals, couples and families from the surrounding areas of Perranporth, Truro, Newquay, Falmouth and Penzance, as well as further afield online.
When something in our life becomes a struggle to live with, discovering more about it can bring deep relief. Perhaps something unexpected has happened? Or a more longstanding issue is weighing heavily on you? In either case, I will support you in speaking freely about your experience in the present, alongside an exploration of its context in your past.
Our sessions will create a space for internal reflection alongside a recognition of the challenges imposed by society. Gender, race, religion, class and sexual orientation are all important parts of my work.
I am interested the question of how we choose to live. When difficulties are left unexplored, we can feel distant and disorientated in our relationships and lives. This struggle can take many forms from anxiety and depression, to physical symptoms and pain.* Discovering more about our patterns and repetitions can bring new possibility for life ahead.
I have worked as a psychotherapist in Cornwall for over five years, where I undertook a postgraduate psychoanalytic training with the SSCP (Society for Social and Critical Psychoanalysis), members of the accredited psychotherapy body UKCP.
I recently published a paper in the European Journal of Psychotherapy and Counselling entitled “Mum’s The Word: Contemporary Mothering in a time of social, environmental and mental collapse”.
I moved to Cornwall in 2016, previously living in London and working in the music and film industry.
